Guided visit
A is for apple, B is for ball. Did children in Ancient Egypt learn their letters using rhymes? How did medieval knights write and how do Chinese children learn writing? Where did writing originate and how did it evolve across different cultures?
Students will explore the earliest forms of writing, from Mesopotamian clay tablets with cuneiform script to Egyptian hieroglyphic steles, classical mosaics, and Chinese calligraphy. They will look, decipher, and experiment with writing styles from different eras to uncover their meanings and functions.
